Guna Yala Comarca (Kuna Yala)

Guna Yala, also known as the Kuna Yala Comarca, is a stunning archipelago located on Panama’s Caribbean coast. It consists of over 365 islands and cays, of which only 49 are inhabited by the Guna people, an indigenous group that has preserved its culture, traditions, and autonomy over the years.

The main attraction of Guna Yala is the San Blas Islands, where visitors can enjoy pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Beyond the natural beauty, the Guna culture is fascinating: their famous molas (handmade textiles), rituals, and way of life are truly unique. Visitors can learn about island life while respecting the community rules established by the Guna, who are the protectors of their land and biodiversity.

When you visit the San Blas Islands, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the Guna people and learn about their way of life. From visiting local communities to purchasing crafts, every interaction supports the Guna economy and their efforts to preserve their culture and environment.

The Guna people are more than just the custodians of the San Blas Islands—they are the protectors of a delicate balance between culture and nature. By visiting, you become part of their story, helping to preserve this paradise for generations to come.
